Headquartered in Texas, MicroTransponder Inc. (MTI) has developed the Paired Vagus Nerve Stimulation System (Paired VNS™ System) based on decades of neuroscience research. The Paired VNS™ System has been developed to treat two separate neurological conditions. The first is the Serenity® System for the treatment of chronic tinnitus. The second is the Vivistim® System for treatment of post-stroke upper limb mobility issues.

Jean-Philippe (JP) Allar, Msc


JP joined MicroTransponder with over 30 years of international sales/marketing experience and international division management in the medical device field. He has established new sales markets for a wide variety of firms, from startups to Fortune 500 companies including Eli Lilly, Guidant, and Cyberonics.

During his 10 years at Cyberonics Europe, he served as the Managing Director and Director of Sales. He was the architect of the International VNS therapy sales strategy and led a team of 50 people to launch the leading non-pharma therapy for epilepsy, growing sales to over $30 Million annually.

Jean-Philippe holds a M.Sc. in life sciences from the Brussels University (ULB) and a M.Sc. in Business from HEC St Louis, Brussels.

President and COO

Jordan is a serial entrepreneur with expertise in building companies and recruiting successful management teams to accelerate growth across a number of industries. Jordan has founded 3 other companies in the real estate, wireless, and online commerce sectors. Jordan graduated with a Finance degree from Notre Dame and worked for Huron Consulting Group where he worked with large corporations in the healthcare industry. After founding his first successful company, Jordan went back to Duke for a MBA degree, with a focus on Healthcare Management and Marketing. Experience as a brand manager at Unilever gave Jordan additional insights and he co-founded MicroTransponder in 2007.

In addition, Jordan invests independently as an Angel and serves on the Board of Directors for HFS Scholars, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education by offering scholarships and one on one mentoring opportunities for economically disadvantaged inner-city high school students.

VP of Clinical Affairs

Brent has decades of clinical expertise with vagus nerve stimulation. He was the third person hired at Cyberonics (CYBX) and directed 14 vagus nerve stimulation device trials in 11 countries. Brent has been involved in more than 10 neurostimulation IDE submissions, and was very active in providing clinical input for the research program at Cyberonics during his 18 year tenure.

Brent has been involved in numerous financing rounds, board presentations, site agreement negotiations, and grants for MicroTransponder. Previously, Brent has also worked at various other early stage medical device companies in the neurostimulation and dental industries. He has a degree in electrical engineering from Rice University.

Navzer Engineer, MD, PhD

Chief Scientific Officer

Navzer completed his medical training in India and then earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas. His PhD thesis and post-doctoral research focused on probing principles that govern brain plasticity using neuromodulation techniques such as deep brain stimulation and vagus nerve stimulation (VNS). Navzer has over 15 years of experience in translating neuromodulation therapies to treat neurological conditions.

Navzer was one of the first team members at MicroTransponder and was instrumental in developing the Paired VNS™ technology platform. His work has been published and reviewed in leading peer-reviewed journals (including Nature and New England Journal of Medicine). Navzer’s work on Paired VNS™ laid the foundation for the ongoing clinical therapy trials for tinnitus and stroke. He has been the lead Principal Investigator on many successful NIH SBIR grants.


Ravi Jain, MS

Director of Engineering

Ravi is an experienced medical device engineer who has led teams to develop implantable medical devices for over 15 years.  He has held roles across all phases of development including design, manufacturing, quality, and distribution.  Prior to joining MicroTransponder, Ravi was a senior engineer in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division of St. Jude Medical.

Ravi received his BSE in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania and his MS in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Stanford University.  Ravi holds 5 medical device patents
